The Flashpot Moments is a long-simmering studio project recorded in Boston and Los Angeles by singer / songwriter / occasional drummer Tim Cawley. The album was created with some super-talented musicians and production folks who’ve worked on projects with the likes of Iggy Pop, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, Arcade Fire, Spoon, T. Bone Burnett, Aimee Mann, Husker Du and Wilco to name a few.
Simultaneously indie and anthemic, FPM aims to make music that would sound good with sixty- or seventy-odd-thousand fans drunkenly singing along at, say, Red Rocks or Castle Donnington. You know when you’re at a concert, and there’s a big, over-the-top moment in the song – a soaring vocal, a shift in dynamics, a dramatic key change, a crescendo into the final chorus – and the fireworks go off? Those little pyro cannons onstage are called “flashpots.”
The eponymous debut album is available now.
